Welcome to the GMC Global Online Leadership College Faculty Orientation (OLC 101)!  Following the steps listed below will help you become better acquainted with how to successfully complete this course.

This course is non-facilitated, meaning there is no instructor assigned to the course.  It is also an asynchronous course, meaning you may access the course content at any time and from anywhere there is an Internet connection.

You may work at your own pace and you have a maximum of four weeks to complete the course.  After successfully finishing the course you will be issued a certificate of completion which you must download to activate your completion.  This certificate will also be automatically sent to the GMC Global Online Campus Administrative Staff (Department Chairs), as proof you have demonstrated the skills necessary to be a faculty member for the GMC Global Online College.  Once your certificate of completion is received, your name will be added to the list of qualified faculty.  Please contact your Department Chair if you have questions or concerns regarding the course.

Complete the Units

There are four learning units in this course. Start at the top and work your way down. You must earn 90% or better on each unit assessment in order to proceed to the next learning unit.  You will have 3 attempts to pass each learning unit assessment.

  • Reading preparation - your first task for each unit is to complete the reading preparation. Since there is no assigned text for this course, all reading assignments will come in the form of links to webpages. The reading assignments will prepare you for viewing the online learning resources.
  • View the online learning resources - after completing the reading preparation, click the links for the online learning resources. Resources are selected to reinforce the reading materials, enhance the learning experience, and prepare the student for the unit assessments.
  • Complete the activities - review the reading and online resources before beginning the activities. You must earn 90% or better on each unit assessment in order to release the materials for the next learning unit and continue with the course. You will have 3 attempts to pass each learning unit assessment. You may refer to your notes or the online learning resources when completing the activities. If you are unable to earn 90% or better on a unit assessment after 3 attempts, the course will be concluded. At this point, you will need to notify your Department Chair.

NOTE: Successful completion of OLC 101 is NOT an offer of employment. OLC 101 is a training course designed to familiarize prospective faculty members with the GMC Global Online College, its policies and procedures, and the Moodle Learning Management System.
